How It Works

How does Sober Chauffeur work?
Our chauffeur drives his or her personal vehicle to your home, office, or wherever you may be; parks their vehicle, and then operates your car as your personal chauffeur.  You and your vehicle are returned to this starting point at the end of the service period.  Your chauffeur remains with your vehicle throughout the engagement.

How long can I use my chauffeur?
Your chauffeur is yours for however long you desire his or her service.  If you require a chauffeur for longer than a eight hour continuous shift, please call our office to schedule the appointment.

When does billable time start?
Billable time starts after our driver arrives at the address you designated for pick up and completes a 10 minute inspection of your vehicle. Our drivers will arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your requested start time to complete this required inspection, and you will not be billed for those minutes.  They will also collect the valid registration and insurance cards for the vehicle being operated and hold these during the engagement.

How do I get billed?
Our fees are $75.00 for the first three hour minimum reservation period, and $25.00 per hour after.  The fees are billed at the hourly rate in minimum increments of 15 minutes (after the three hour minimum time is met). Please check our reservations page for details.

What happens to my car?
Your chauffeur remains with your car for the entire service period; or you may request to be escorted in the venue for added security.  When you send a request via a cell phone call or a text message to your chauffeur, your car will be ready to pick you up at the entrance of your location and transport you and your guests to your next destination.

If my meeting or engagement finishes earlier or later than expected, how do I contact my driver?
You may contact your driver to inform him or her of changes via voice or text on his or her cellular phone.

How do I pay for service?
Your credit card will be authorized (not charged) for the estimated time reserved plus $50 at the time your reservation is confirmed.  After service is completed, your credit card used to authorize the service is charged for the actual time used.  Full credit is provided if the reservation is cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure time.  No cash payments are accepted, with the exception of tips paid directly to your chauffeur.

Does Sober Chauffeur offer discounts?
Yes, we offer various types of discounts, including business accounts.  Please look for our ads, flyers, or sign up for our mailing list for possible special offers.

What is standard attire for my chauffeur?
The chauffeur’s attire is at the client’s request. Typically, a black polo sport shirt and black pants are worn upon requests for casual attire.   Upon request for formal attire, a black or grey suit, white shirt and black tie is worn.  Please use our Special Request box on the Reservation Form to specify attire.

Can I reserve the same driver whenever I use Sober Chauffeur?
Yes, you may request the same chuaffeur. We will make every effort to ensure your request is accommodated whenever possible.  Please use the Special Request box on the Reservation Form.

Why does my chauffeur have to perform an inspection of my vehicle?
The inspection is performed for your safety and protection. It is to assess whether the vehicle is in lawful condition to be driven.

What items are checked?
We will check for current insurance, current registration, and current inspection, along with working lights, turn signals, horn, and adequate tires.  We will also review the vehicle for any existing body damage.

Should I tip my chauffeur?
Sober Chauffeur does not add a gratuity to our service fees (nor do you have to pay sales tax!). Tipping is appreciated, but completely voluntary and at the client’s discretion.  The industry standard is 15%-25%.

What do I do if I need to cancel my reservation?
You may cancel your reservation without penalty up 24 hours in advance. You will be charged a $75 fee (the three hour minimum) for any cancellation made with less than 24 hours notice.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?
All reservations should be made at least 24 hours in advance but can be made up to 3 months in advance.

Can I make a reservation less than 24 hours before service is desired?
Yes, you must however, call our office to do so, and we will make every attempt to accommodate you.

What about insurance?
We carry multiple liability insurance policies should an accident occur as a result of negligent behavior by one of our drivers, and other risks.   Insurance laws in most states dictate that coverage follows the vehicle regardless of the driver; so your insurance may provide initial coverage in the event of an accident.
